Research Expertise

Expert researcher worked for 31 years at Cranfield University including Professor of Armour Systems  2005-2018. Previous research posts at ICI and University of Surrey with a commitment to lifelong learning. Skilled in engineering materials and applications development, in polymer, metallic and intermetallic composites, ceramics, textiles and high specific strength metals.  Leadership in test and standards development for impact effects on structures and materials, dynamic fracture of polymers and trauma biomechanics. Development of protection systems and studies in survivability and armour systems, including everything from stab resistant police body armour to aircraft defensive aids.
